InTune is the Best!

As a new app, I was kind of wary about using InTune. But, I was struggling to find people who shared similar music tastes as me. I recently moved from South Korea to Knoxville, Tennessee. Knoxville does not have a large Asian demographic in general. The transition was difficult for me. One thing that I missed back home was definitely the music, especially K-pop songs. As days went on, I wanted to find someone to whom I could talk about my music tastes. It should be passionately without fear of judgment.

InTune is the best

I started searching on social media apps for K-pop communities, but they were all mainstream. There were only communities for big artists and groups, such as Twice and BTS. But, I preferred listening to smaller artists. That’s when I found InTune, and I was shocked. The community section was so active for my favorite artists, no matter how niche they were. I liked talking to the different users and reading their hilarious comments.

At first, I was scared to make posts by myself, only commenting on others. But, when I finally decided to make my first post by sharing my Spotify playlist of my current favorite K-pop songs, it went viral. Everyone complimented my music tastes, and I felt like I belonged. I am sure that the community guidelines are strict, but the moderators are doing a great job of keeping everything in check. So, people don’t have to worry about InTune not being an inclusive or safe space for people to share.

What Are My Favorites?

But, my favorite thing about InTune has to be its creative section. It is so unique and I have never seen anything like it. I have used Spotify Wrapped through every year, and I loved it. So when I saw that InTune offered this creative feature where I do not have to wait a whole year to interact with it, I was excited. My favorite quiz was “AI Roasts Your Music Tastes.” I shared some of my quiz results with the niche community, and it was funny comparing our results – considering we all had similar music preferences.

The analytics section was also very convenient. There were many ways to visualize my listening data and it was so convenient to have it all in one application. The app’s user interface is visually appealing, especially its dark mode. But, I specifically love how easy it is for people to use! Regardless if you’re tech-savvy or not, you can easily learn how to use the app and it is not so confusing with its many sections or rows, unlike Apple Music.

I hope that InTune will continue to expand its features, but for $5 a month, it is so worth it! Using this application made me feel like I belonged to a community that I lacked when I first came to Knoxville. Although I have made new friends in Tennessee as time passed, I’ll never forget how InTune helped me overcome my fears of connecting with others. I love InTune and would recommend their newsletter to anyone seeking to find an online community based on music!
